Slavery in the South1 The introduction of slavery in the south wind colonies helped the development of their economy. The plantation consumeers had no choice but to tear to slaves because of the lack of colonial counterfeiters and hold servants. Slaves increased the productivity and compensation generated by the huge plantations in the South because they had advantages over indentured servants. It also caused the South grow and develop different from the North, which would later on lead to conflict between the two.
